On the eve of the Australian Nationals we have a quick chat with the incumbent Open Mens Champion.

You are at the Nationals in Mulwala this weekend?

I sure am, I think this is the first year Mulwala have held a Nationals. It’s an awesome spot and very spectator friendly. They have two man made lakes here which is really cool.

How do you feel about the Nationals compared to say a US Pro Tour stop?

The standard of riding is crazy this year from the juniors all the way up to the open men’s division. I treat all contests the same way. I try to keep calm and always smile while I’m out there. If I got a smile that’s all that matters.

What division are you riding in?

I’m riding in open men’s division. There is about 7 of us competing and everyone is killing it! So it will be very interesting tomorrow for finals day.

Who are you riding against?

We got Parker Siegele, Brad Teunissen, Sam Singelton, Dylan Prideax, Jacob Hore, Mitch Daniels and myself.

Who do you think will take home the title?

I’m not too sure who will take the titles away this year. I’m going to do my best to defend the open men title but it all comes down to the day and how everyone rides, it could be someone who no one ever expected to win.

Mastercraft are towing it this year, you are sponoed by them, do you think that gives you an advantage?

This is the first year MasterCraft have towed the nationals. I am also super pumped to be sponsored by them, they make the best wake out there for sure and everyone loves it!

After this you are heading off to start the mastercraft Tour Australia with Harley and Andrew Adkinson?

Yeah, the first day of the tour starts on Sunday here in Mulwala then I head to a couple of other contests. Moomba Masters in Melbourne and World Cup in Perth. The tour will be happening over the month of march and the start of April in every state.
