WHO SHOULD BE Union’s Rider of the year?
“A lot of people should win this because there’s a bunch of guys who rip and put actual effort in making good quality video parts.” BEN LECLAIR
Ben LeClair has been smashing out quality edits for the last few years and he didn’t slow down in 2015. With a stand out performance in the Republic Domain full length movie, he made the gnarliest hand rail set-ups look as simple as hitting and flat box. After month’s of destroying it in the Philippines he traveled to Europe and stepped it up on some winch spots throwing backside 270’s onto big concrete ledges. Being tech on winch spot’s and making it look good is something very few riders have accomplished and let’s just say Ben nailed it in 2015.
Best 2015 trip you went on and why?
Somewhere in Europe trip for sure! 45-day road trip in a R.V all over France and Belgium and a pit stop in Germany. Cable, winching and many more great stuff ha-ha.
Favorite trick you landed on film for the year?
Switch tantrum to blind kicker into the plastic bank at CWC. Took so many tries!
What would you say was your best video part of the year?
I’ve had a lot of video parts from Slingshot ‘Unavailable’ series to the Judgment video contest and Republic Domain movie there’s been a whole lot of footage. But I recently took a couple of winching shots and lost clips from Republic Domain and that was my best edit I think – 365 DAYS OF BEN LECLAIR
Who do you think should be the 2015 rider of the year and why?
That’s a really hard question. I think it’s too hard to say just one guy. A lot of people should win this because there’s a bunch of guys who rip and put actual effort in making good quality video parts while travelling. I have a lot of respect for guys who take the time to winch also at the same time do contests and get photos. It seems simple but it’s good work to get all of it done in a year!
Do you have many plans for 2016?
Still planning a bunch of stuff but as for now I started the year with three months in Asia. Bali and the Philippines is such a fun time.
