“As far as being pro goes… it doesn’t matter as long as I am having fun” Scotty Wilkings
He’s got cable running through his veins. And thanks to his family’s ties with Logan Cable Park on the Gold Coast, it was just assumed that 23 year old Scotty Wilkings would ride a wakeboard and ride it well. But after making a name for himself as a young teenager, he took some time away from the sport of wakeboarding. Drawn back to it by his passion for riding a board, he is now one of the most talked-about cable riders in Australia.
Scotty, the younger brother of another well-known Wilkings—Matty—has had wakeboarding surround his life since before he can remember. Mentored by names like Mark Kenny, Justin Abbott and Sam Collins, he has a perspective on the sport that money just can’t buy. But at his core, his desire is fuelled not by results, nor recognition—put simply, and in his own words, “as far as being pro goes… it doesn’t matter as long as I am having fun.”
